Today, we're going to be taking a look at part number AUT-GMC2-C. This is the GMC trailer hitch cover from Au-Tomotive Gold Hitch Covers. It's going to feature the officially licensed GMC logo right here on the face plate. The unit is designed to slide into your 2-inch hitch to help keep out dirt and grime which is going to ultimately protect your hitch from rust and corrosion but it's also going to add that nice clean finish look to your hitch. We're going to have the chrome ABS plastic that's going to outline the logo on the face plate. Then we are going to have the UV resistant red painted lettering.
That unit is going to sit on a polished stainless steel base so it's going to give that mirror-like shine. That's also going to resist rust and corrosion. We're also going to have the one-piece riveted construction so no assemblies required. It's ready to be installed in your hitch right out of the box. The shank is stainless steel as well. You can see here that it has a 3-pinhole design.
That way, you can choose whatever pinhole is going to work best for your application. The diameter of each one of those holes is going to measure about 5/8 inch. When you install this, this piece is going to go into your hitch. You're going to push it until you get the pinholes lined up with the pinholes in your hitch. Then you're going to need to insert a hitch pin and clip or hitch pin and lock.
Those items are sold separately. If you don't have one, you can find those here on our website. Again, this is designed for 2-inch by 2-inch trailer hitch receivers. If we take a measurement of the shank, measuring from the back of the face plate to the end of the shank, we're looking at 3 1/2 inches. Then from the back of the face plate to the center of that first pinhole, we're looking at about 1 5/8 inches. To the middle of the center pinhole, we're looking at about 2 1/8 inches.
To the center of the rear pinhole, we're looking at about 2 5/8 inches. The face plate is going to give us a diameter of about 4 inches. Again, pretty simple installation. You just slide this into your hitch and secure it with a hitch pin and clip or hitch pin and lock. The unit is going to be covered with a lifetime warranty and it's made right here in the USA. That's going to do it for today's look at part number AUT-GMC2-C.

This well-constructed, authentic emblem is a colourful addition to the rather non-descript square of my GMC Terrain’s trailer hitch. It was very easy to install for driving and to quickly remove, when I occasionally use the hitch, itself. I’ve had various complimentary comments from both my local GM dealer and other persons who had a “bare” trailer hitch on their cars and/trucks. I’ve not hesitated in telling others how they can own such an accessory, where they can buy one and the excellent service they will receive. One final suggestion: do not forget to order the stainless steel pin and holding clip. Make your installation/removal... easy. Thank you, etrailer!

I wish I was reminded that the to buy a hitch lock when I order the 2 hitches. Other then that great product. I love the Colorado hitch cover looks great on my truck. Thank you the delivery was pretty fast well.

The product is excellent and put it on my truck immediately. The only thing I was wondering about is previously with another brand I purchased there was a piece of foam between the Hitch Cover and the actual receiver. I have not gone anywhere yet so am not sure whether there will be a rattle or not from vibration, I was just wondering if your company has thought about including the foam?

Product looks very nice. The 3rd hole on it was the only one that came close to putting a pin in, but was off about a 1/16 of a inch, so l had to drill out the hole in order for a pin to fit. This was the only problem l had.

- Removing a Broken GMC Hitch Cover from a Trailer HitchA trailer hitch cover can be held into a hitch receiver in a couple of ways. First, some have a built-in device that is sort of like a wishbone. On those you would just pull out the cover. Second they can be held in with a hitch pin and clip or hitch lock. For a regular hitch pin you would pull off the clip, remove the pin, and pull out the hitch over. On a lock you would unlock it and pull out the pin (some lock have to be unscrewed). The fascia door can only be reinstalled after a hitch is installed on the Chevy Equinox but not the GMC Terrain. GM may have an alternate cover that you can get from a dealer that is deeper and will fit over the hitch.
